The CEO of a local homebuilding company has purchased a two-building office complex on Turtle Creek in Dallas with plans to hold the property for a future residential high-rise project.

Randall Van Wolfswinkel, CEO of First Texas Homes, bought the former Republic Insurance buildings at 2727 Turtle Creek Blvd. from an affiliate of Trammell Crow Residential. Crow Residential had owned the 5.5-acre property since 2005 and had designed two residential towers for it.

But the recession and housing downturn put an end to those plans.

Construction completed on Ritz-Carlton residences in Uptown

Construction has been completed on the last major condominium tower being built in Dallas’ Uptown district.

The Tower Residences at The Ritz-Carlton is a 23-story building located at Cedar Springs Road and Pearl Street. The high-rise has been under construction for about two years and is adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton Dallas hotel.

The luxury residential building contains 95 units and is about two-thirds reserved by buyers, the developer says. A mid-priced unit in the tower costs more than $1 million.
